Specialist Hoops Basketball Melton is an organisation started to give kids with disability a chance to enjoy the game of basketball in a safe and fun learning environment where they can be themselves without fear of being judged.
Specialist hoops began in September 2017 when founder, Emily Attard, decided to set up a one-day "all abilities" camp to promote the values listed above. After a successful program in 2017, and people asking when the next program was going to run, Emily decided that it needed to become a regular program.
Teaming up with Co-Founder Doug Crowe and a group of experienced coaches, the weekly program from Specialist Hoops quickly became a reality.
Specialist Hoops now runs weekly All-Abilities Basketball sessions on Fridays from 4:15 and ending at 5:30 at the Melton Recreation Centre.
In this weekly program we cater for adults and children with all-abilities and offer them a safe and fun learning environment without expectations. We teach basic basketball techniques but focus on keeping people engaged and active!
